Not the greatest volume of the Mega Collection, all told then, and the idea that there may be a couple more books of Missionary Man on their way, less filled with Dredd, fills me with dread. The characters are tedious and one-dimensional, the art mostly terrible, and Rennie seems to have adopted a scriptwriting stalling tactic of telling you what's going to happen, showing you it happening, and then telling you that it happened, which is great for PowerPoint presentations, not so much for the generation of Thrill-Power. Might have to revise that opinion based on the Missionary Man stories contained herein, which required the aid of matchsticks to keep my eyes propped open to the end. I'd been coming to the conclusion that, of the second string of Dreddverse writers, it was Robbie Morrison that was the stinker, and that Gordon Rennie, while rarely grounds for excitement, was at least a safe pair of hands.
